Hy,

So you live exactly in the same place where Emil Cioran lived? I was today, 07.07.2012, to see the building from 21, Rue de l'Odeon. There was no commemorative plaque on it with his name. I was a little confused. Maybe I can visit you just to see with my own eyes the place were he lived. I've read a lot of books written by him. The best romanian philosopher.

Thanks, Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Yes, I agree: Cioran was the best Romanian philosopher ever. Cioran lived at 21 Rue de l'Odeon, there is no plaque, I found out while doing a bit of research. Ask one of the booksellers on that block, they also assisted me. Did you know also that Sylvia Beach's original Shakespeare & Co. was on this block as well? It's just across the street and down the block a bit. The plaque is hanging up high near the second story (hard to find).

I always loved the photo of Cioran that I posted on my blog. He looks so sad and sweet, as though the photographer recognized him and he just wanted to be done with it. I love him!

Best Wishes,
Todd

Yes. I noticed that day the plaque with Sylvia Beach.
Sorry but I think I got it wrong. First I thought that you are really living in Cioran's apartment. Then I understood your idea with the two photos. Anyway,
I'm glad that you like Emil Cioran. Do you know the documentary "Revelation of Cioran", made by Gabriel Liiceanu? Maybe you can find a version of it with English subtitle. I recommend it to you.

All the best,
Daniel
