A Fitted Party Frock With a Fox Puff in Back

Before I forget who you are
let me know how I know who you are
the final flourish is the feathering in
hanging from a rafter
circling the city
looking for an indication of wind
when there is none of the above
and now here we are
it is important to know
when not to fire
there is a dog named "Delta"
that can smell seizures on babies
young people lose a sense of hope
the brush of lips or a limb
against your neck
dance against October
to be cornered by age and thought
it is an uneasy feeling
leaving the yard with people
screaming in the house.

akin to "Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat" from Blonde on Blonde / "one of us must know (sooner or later)" --whose dance against October, y/ours?
of course both.
